The 17th Meeting of the East Asia Biosphere Reserve Network (EABRN), co-organized by MAB China and the EABRN Secretariat of the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, will be held in Dinghushan Biosphere Reserve, Guangdong Province, China, from 19 to 23 October 2026.
The meeting will bring together representatives of EABRN member countries, biosphere reserves, UNESCO and partner institutions to exchange experiences, review the network’s activities and discuss priorities for future regional cooperation.
The programme is expected to include discussions on the implementation of the Hangzhou Strategic Action Plan for Biosphere Reserves in Asia and the Pacific 2026–2035, presentations by EABRN member countries on their national priorities, and exchanges on how EABRN can contribute to its implementation. The meeting will also include a review of the network’s achievements and future directions, including through the ongoing external evaluation of EABRN.
Participants will also discuss initiatives to strengthen youth engagement and scientific cooperation within the network.
The meeting will help strengthen collaboration among EABRN members and further promote the role of biosphere reserves as learning sites for biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and knowledge exchange.
